Valentine's Day Roundup

Do you have plans with a loved one today? Day filled with fun and romance? Fancy dinner out? And lots of sweet chocolate for dessert? And.... No worries, I won't go past dessert with you.

Or maybe you'll just enjoy the day like it's any other. Which is pretty much the stance I take. With the slight exception of this year. Our roommates, aka the in-laws, are out of town. So for dinner we are splurging. We won't be hitting the town. No, no. It's too much of a crazy zoo for that. Instead I'll be making something at home that is fancier from what we would normally eat for dinner. And also something that we don't normally eat period. Steak. We are pretty much heavy on the chicken for day to day meals, which I try to change up periodically.

So, what are YOUR plans tonight? Really. Even if you're spending some quality time with yourself, you should make the most of it. Treat you or whoever you happen to be hanging around with today with lots of love. There's no reason why today should only be reserved for ONE special person in your life. So go ahead. Make yourself a big pan of brownies. Or a steak. Maybe a lobster tail. And only share if you want to.

Appetizers

Antipasto Skewers-- Fancy and easy.

Deviled Eggs-- Because I LOVE them.

Salads

Balsamic Vinaigrette-- Dresses up the simplest green salad

Creamy Italian Dressing-- Understated and simple. Won't overpower the rest of your meal.

Entrees

Lemon Soy Sauce Marinade-- Make your meat salty and good.

Oven Baked Pork Chops-- For hardly any effort, make a melt-in-your-mouth meal.

Sides

Creamy Whipped Potatoes-- A simple side dish that goes with either of the above main dishes.

Dessert

Plain Chocolate Brownies-- Bake and eat. Cut into cute heart shapes or devour straight from the pan. I won't judge.

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies-- Nothing says "I love myself (or you)" more that the marriage of peanut butter and chocolate.
