Lemon Soy Sauce Marinade

Growing up there was only ever one meat marinade in our house. And. This. Was. It. We had it on everything: steaks, chicken, ribs, and even cornish game hens. My dad would often fire up the charcoal grill during the summer and during the colder months my mom would toss the meats under the broiler. Since moving out of my parent's house, I have expanded my grilling horizons with loads of other flavor combinations, but this still holds a place in my heart.

Plus it is sooo easy. Only three ingredients. You can't get much easier than that. Simple and tasty. Oh, and versatile. So, give it a try with your favorite cut of steak or some chicken breasts (bone-in or boneless are both great). And if you're making steaks, feel free to top them with goodies if you like. Herb butter, blue cheese crumbles/dressing, crispy bacon, steak sauce, sharp white cheddar, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions....

Lemon Soy Sauce Marinade

2/3 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup lemon juice (fresh or bottled works)
4-6 cloves garlic, smashed
3 lbs of your choice of meat

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic. Place meat in a 9x13 size dish and pour marinade over the top. Cover and refrigerate for at least overnight. Grill or broil depending on type and sizes of meat.

  1. Oh Elizabeth--I so use this marinade-for literally everything. The lemon juice cuts the saltiness of the soy sauce and acts as a tenderizer for all cuts of meat. Really is a staple at my house too. Thanks for posting.
